This is a Blog about my Son the Marine. It will tell his ongoing story of his training and deployment.

The summer of 2007 Devin announced his decision to join the United States Marine Corps. He had been pondering it for quite some time, reading books, watching documentaries, talking with retired Marines and friends who are currently serving. The first thing I said was, "but you're an only child, you can't join." That didn't matter, Devin had made his final decision. He began a daily routine of working out...pull ups, push ups, sit ups, and running. His recruiter was sure to keep Devin posted on the importance of being physically fit before reporting for the MCRD in September. I began to see a change in Devin the moment he made his decision to become a Marine. He got all his paper work in order, he was ready to go in early September.
